The Bizarre is an independent streetwear label founded by Damian Gray in November 2012. Inspired by current trends, popular culture and trends of the eighties and nineties. With a focus on hand producing garments using techniques such as stone washing, tie dying, embroidery and vinyl print. Often collaborating with up and coming designers, photographers, stylists and models.

The Bizarre aims to impact its customers’ lives culturally whether it’s through fashion, its monthly playlists, or its ability to highlight the places to eat, drink and dance in the city. And the odd meme on its Instagram.

Launching whilst Damian was still at university the project soon took a life of its own as stores in his hometown of Leeds began stocking the brand. The Bizarre’s next goal was to relocate to Manchester to open a pop up store in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, an area full of creative and thriving small businesses.

The store successfully opened in December 2014 with a real focus on helping other young creatives with their start-up labels and therefore stocking 10 other local independent brands at any one time. In the one year that The Bizarre’s pop up shop has been open the store has enabled 20 other local designers to sell their goods in a brick and mortar store gaining priceless exposure and knowledge of the retail industry.

In December 2015, ASOS Marketplace announced The Bizarre as one of ten ‘ASOS Graduates’ chosen from over a thousand of their boutiques. Part of this included debuting their latest collection at The Clothes Show at the NEC Birmingham.

The Bizarre Northern Quarter pop-up store closed at the end of January 2016 with the team moving into brand new city centre studio and office ahead of their SS16 launch and nationwide stockist expansion.
